New client msg life!
eobiont is happy to announce that we are now the head communication agency for msg life, an international leading software provider for the insurance industry. Thus far, we have updated and relaunched their website, not only creating a fresh new look and feel, but also strengthening their branding message and clearly communicating their services and strengths. We have also been charged with the task of developing msg life’s B2B newsletter and product brochures, as well as creating company branding for trade fairs and other industry events.
Typo Hamburg - What the Font?
How a word looks on a page or a screen effects the way it is read. To explore this topic further, we found ourselves delving into a one-day, multi-speaker seminar at Typo Hamburg earlier this month. This event aimed to explain the current status of digital written communication, giving designers, brand managers and publishing experts a chance to brush up on their font skills.
The World Health Summit Startup Track, developed last year by eobiont, gives young entrepreneurs in the healthcare sector the chance to pitch their business concepts to world leaders in science, industry and politics. Of the nearly 80 entrepreneurs who applied this year, only 10 were given the opportunity to present. This second annual Startup Track, which we also organized and moderated, featured exciting and innovative pitches, which focused on topics ranging from cancer care management to Google Glass-controlled wheelchairs. It’s safe to say everyone who attended came away inspired. But there could only be one World Health Summit Startup Track winner for 2016!
Coming up this November at the Quadriga Forum Berlin, eobiont’s own Claudia Groetschel will be presenting at the Vertriebsmanager Conferences, the focus of which is finding opportunities for growth in the international market. Claudia, along with Norbert Schaaf, the co-chairman of the initiative “Rauchmelder retten Leben” (Smoke Detectors Save Lives) will discuss how working with competitors can sometimes work to your advantage. They will elaborate on details of the sleeping-with-the-enemy strategy that was integral to the success of this national awareness campaign for smoke detectors.
Using Statistics to Predict Behavior
Ever wonder if opinion research and polling are effective measures of how we actually vote, choose their breakfast cereal or how often we actually exercise? eobiont’s Daniel Trattler is presenting a talk on Wednesday, September 21st at the UI/UX Designers Meetup at the Zalando Shuttle Innovation offices in Berlin. He will discuss the sometimes great discrepancy between how people perceive their own behaviors and how they actually act. Come out to meet Dan and hear him speak probability theory, risk assessment, media manipulation and the biology of behavior. Things are going to get sciency!
Recently eobiont sat down with one of the 10 finalists for this year’s World Health Summit Startup Track, Dr. Janko Brand and Tom Bley from OneWorldDoctors.org in Berlin, to find out about their concept, their impressions on being a finalist and what this opportunity would mean to them.

New Client Rosenbauer
eobiont has a long history of working in the areas of fire prevention and fire fighting equipment. So, perhaps it’s not such a surprise that we’ve acquired new client Rosenbauer, a leading manufacturer of firefighting vehicles. We are looking forward to helping them with their regional marketing in Germany.
eobiont Acquires Client Eurostaff
eobiont is proud to now be working with Eurostaff, a Europe-wide recruitment service provider that has specialized in the fields of technology and finance for over 10 years. Some recruiters in this branch have earned a less-than-favorable reputation, which unfortunately tarnishes the good name of guys like Eurostaff, who can boast better recruitment practices. We’ve already done a website blueprinting workshop with them and are very exited to work on the further development of their brand.
This has been a banner year for Rauchmelder retten Leben (Smoke Detectors Save Lives), which seeks to bring the importance of smoke detector installation into public view. Not only have we hit the 16 year mark of eobiont's work on this important national campaign (we officially celebrated the 15th anniversary in 2015), we have also reached an amazing turning point. This summer, Berlin and Brandenburg—the last holdouts—amended their building regulations for new and renovated buildings, making the life-saving devices a requirement in German homes nationwide!
The Startup Track from the World Health Summit gives young entrepreneurs the opportunity to present their innovative, healthcare-related business concepts to world leaders in science, industry and politics. Out of 73 entries from 22 countries, 10 finalists have been awarded with this unique chance to pitch their ideas. Also chosen were the 15 shortlisted startups who will be invited to attend this year’s summit. eobiont, as the strategic partner to the WHS Startup Track, is taking care of the participants before and during this exciting event and preparing them for the pitch. The winner of the Startup Track will be announced this year by German Minister of Health Hermann Gröhe. Congratulations to all!

Earlier this month eobiont attended the 3rd annual Sales Management Congress in Berlin, the largest professional event of its kind in Germany. This year’s theme: The Future of Sales Management. BdVM-Präsident Thomas Lang explained in his opening speech that this was chosen in part because the future is not what happens, rather it is up to the individual to create it. Presentations focused on globalization, incentives, digitalization and leadership to inspire and prepare participants to take the right steps and point their business models in a relevant direction.
The New Ampelini XL App is Here!
Last week eobiont launched Ampelini XL, the second mobile app in the Ampelini series designed to playfully teach children aged 3-8 how to stay safe in everyday situations. Through the exploration of this wacky world filled with learning games, strange creatures and silly surprises, kids learn to recognize and deal with dangers they may encounter in real life, especially in traffic.
A New Look for Restaurant Dom Curry
eobiont was asked to give the currywurst restaurant Dom Curry at Gendarmenmarkt a distinct new corporate design that reflected their quality products. We redeveloped the signage and menus, incorporating their given color story with vintage, black illustrated silhouette images in what we have come to refer to as “the sophisticated pig look.” The design is playful but still fits with the restaurant’s upscale identity. Check out the pictures here or go see it live and pick up a delicious snack at the same time. You know you’ve had the best when you’ve tasted the wurst!
Stiftung Charité Entrepreneurship Summit
eobiont had the good fortune of attending the Stiftung Charité’s 9th Annual Entrepreneurship Summit in Berlin last week. Especially of interest to us was the discussion of digitalisation of healthcare, which is right up our alley! But there were many other fascinating topics, including Healthcare Entrepreneurship: Challenges to Success on the Global Market, a discussion led by Prof. Detlev Ganten, president of the World Health Summit. Part of his presentation focused on the 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development, shown here in this infographic. Take a look at what we are striving for!
eobiont’s Impressions of TYPO Berlin
The 2016 TYPO Berlin International Design Conference: Beyond Design had a promising title and did not disappoint. A wide variety of speakers, made up of pioneering designers, professors, academics, artists and more, shared their knowledge and experiences with attentive, design-centric audience members (like us!). While some presentations were on the wacky side, like Spanish brothers and illustrators Brosmind, who crafted their presentation hardware out of wearable Lego armbands, some took a more serious tack. Regardless, you’d be hard pressed to exit the conference halls without taking some inspiration with you.
Smoke Detector Day on May 13th
“A Fire Changes Everything. Prepare Your Home Now!” This is the emotional campaign motto for this year’s Smoke Detector Day. In German states where such laws are on the books, home and apartment owners are responsible for installing smoke detectors into all living spaces. These homeowners are at the center of the current campaign for Smoke Detector Day on May 13th, 2016.
eobiont Workshop in Budapest
Last week, eobiont took our Brand Meridian and co-creation methodologies to Budapest, Hungary, where Helen Doron English held their annual international conference for master franchisors from over 30 countries. We developed a special workshop uniquely suited to their marketing challenges as franchisors with often very distinct local issues.
The World Health Summit Startup Track is a program initiated at last year’s event, developed by eobiont, strategic partner of the WHS. The Startup Track highlights and showcases outstanding ideas and innovative business concepts that have the potential to revolutionize healthcare ad improve global health. The program was such a success, the WHS is bringing it back again for this year’s summit, announcing a call for submissions on its website.
It's always a challenge to find new ways to emotionalize smoke detectors—especially after working for so many years to promote them. We have made a lot of headway in the area of creating public awareness and influencing policies that make smoke detectors a requirement in German homes, but there is still more to do. For the 15th anniversary of the “Rauchmelder retten Leben” (“Smoke Detectors Save Lives”) campaign, we created this new online video, which is some of our best effort yet.
The World Health Summit brings together stakeholders and decision makers from every field in the healthcare spectrum, providing the perfect forum for exchange with experts from academia, industry, politics and civil society. It is the world’s foremost strategic forum for global health, and promotes thought leadership in the scientific and global health agenda.
eobiont Supports Refugees on Rails
Refugees are too often viewed within Europe only as a burden. The Refugees on Rails team wants to prove that our new neighbors offer an opportunity for Europe to enrich its culture and empower its economy. They believe that all human beings have the right to live up to their potential and to improve themselves. The aim is to help refugees build and expand their qualifications as software developers and give them the chance to work with start-ups and tech companies. They are doing this by creating a coding school.
