The Design Dash is a way to quickly develop exceptional solutions for a concrete design or marketing challenge. This can be anything from a logo to a new marketing campaign. Essentially it is a highly structured brainstorming method. Participants are guided through a series of activities that begin by trying to gather as many ideas as possible and then gradually focusing on those that best solve the communication challenge.
It encompasses several principles. Focus is on collaboration and idea sharing. Typically creatives in agencies are trained to compete with each other. The activities in the Design Dash workshop break down these innate tendencies so that by the end all ideas become shared property rather than individually owned. It is also based strictly on our Brand Meridian. Personal tastes are cast aside and ideas must be defended based on their ability to solve the design challenge and support the Brand Meridian.
A Design Dash is also a much better alternative to a classic agency pitch. Here we have a large group of creatives working on the same brief, but rather than competing in secret they are openly collaborating, so there is virtually no productivity waste or redundancy.
The result is a highly productive session that quickly cuts through standard solutions to get to those that are truly exceptional. Usually a Design Dash workshop has 5–8 participants and takes 4 hours.
